Gearbox Announces A New Vault Hunter, DLC and Level Cap Increase
Today during Gearbox Software’s PAX East panel Randy Pitchford announced that the long awaited level cap increase with be coming out in a paid DLC pack for Borderlands 2. The pack, called Ultimate Vault Hunter pack, will include a level cap increase from 50 to 61. Along with it comes the new play mode that scales all the enemies to the new cap. The new mode is titled Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode coincidentally enough. Also being introduced in the pack will be a new level of rarity for the loot. Perlescent gear, like the first Borderlands, will be the highest rarity loot in the game. The pack will be available April 2nd for $5.
The next thing they announced was the new vault hunter, Krieg. Krieg is a bandit who uses an axe for melee and has the ability to throw it for ranged attacks. His downed attacks are throwing dynamite at enemies, and his second wind is to blow himself up. He has no automatic health regeneration, but is fully healed through killing enemies. His skill trees are Bloodlust, Mania, and Hellborn. The Bloodlust tree allows for more stacked accumulation effects. The Mania tree is the high risk, high reward tree that rewards you for taking damage. The Hellborn tree gives you elemental effect with the final skill giving you the ability to be on fire. He will be $10 and available in May.
The next campaign DLC was announce. No official name was given, but the video showed Tiny Tina as the only character outside of the NPC vault hunters. The video seems to suggest it is “Bunkers and Badasses” and will hopefully be out by the end of June. Gearbox is saying That is the largest DLC for any Borderlands that they have released. This is the first Campaign DLC for Borderlands 2 that is developed by the core development team of Borderlands. This will be included in the season pass, but no price was given for those that don’t have it. Though if past release patterns continue, it will be $10.
The final thing that Gearbox announced was that they are producing more of the loot crates from the ultimate edition of Borderlands 2 and will be sold by Thinkgeek.com. The chests don’t contain an a copy of the game, but will have posters, a replica Goliath mask, and cards showing legendary loot. Also included will be shift codes for the Goliath mask to use as a head in game. The loot chest will be sold for $99.99.
