Everything You Need To Know About the Nintendo Direct from 5-17-2013

Well, Nintendo came out with another in their video series, Nintendo Direct. Here is everything you need to know about it.


  • A separate Nintendo Direct will be released around the time of E3 informing of new Wii U content

 Mario & Sonic: Olympic Games

  • Wii U game

  • Enhanced Environment

  • Detailed characters

  • Will use Wii Remote + Controller

  • Snowboarding and ice skating has been added.

  • Curling will use the Wii Pad to share strategy

  • Biathlon event: Cross country skiing and shooting, the player has to switch between controllers, depending on the strategy

  • Free events have been added, able to do dynamic moves not possible in real life

  • Also contains “Mix Events” that can be composed of Skiing , Snowboarding, skating and boat play [? count not understand the last word] All in one race.

  • Release date: TBA

 Nintendo and Sega Partnership

  • Nintendo has entered a partnership with Sega.

  • Soon to be released on the nintendo market, a collection of sega games.  A few of the Game Gear’s games have been released and more are coming soon.

 Sonic: Lost World

  • Action Platformer

  • Coming to the 3DS and WiiU

  • Release date to be determined.

 Zelda Oracle of Ages and Zelda Oracle of Seasons

  • Coming to Nintendo 3DS on May 30th

  • When you play both, the games have a link system that will open different bosses and more.

  • Regular Price on the E-shop $5.99 each

  • If you purchase between May 30 – Juno 20 the price will be $4.99 each

 Donkey Kong Country 3D

  • 8 new levels to unlock

  • These stages can be unlocked through “new mode” which contains new items to help you through the original levels. Original mode will let you unlock them as well.

  • Available May 24th

 Animal Crossing New Leaf

  • Available June 9

  • New Animal Crossing set for Puzzle swap in the Mii Plaza

 Game & Wario

  • Coming to the WiiU

  • 2-5 players, but only 1 gamepad is needed.

  • Launch Your Fronks, Patchwork, and Kung-Fu are a few of the games featured.

  • Launches on June 23rd for $39.99

 Resident Evil: Revelations

  • New content and difficulty, Inferno, are in the WiiU version.

  • Hank and Rachelle have been added to the Raid Mode.

  • Full game is available in Off-TV Mode.

  • Launches for both physical copies and on the WiiU e-shop on May 21st.

 New Super Luigi U

  • Mario doesn’t make an appearance.

  • Play as Luigi, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, and Nabbit in multiplayer.

  • Available for download on June 20th in the WiiU e-shop for $19.99.

  • Will have a special standalone version that doesn’t require New Super Mario Bros. U.

  • The standalone version will be available on disc on August 25th for $29.99.

 The Wonderful 101

  • Launches for the WiiU on September 15th.

 Pikmin 3

  • Alph, Brittany, and Charlie are the main characters.

  • Players can only complete tasks during daytime hours in game.

  • Areas are saved in days, allowing you to retry days to get better results.

  • No limit to the number of days.

  • Gamepad, called KopPad in this game, has your map using “fog of war” for unexplored areas.

  • Scrolling the map on the KopPad shows you the detailed areas on the TV.

  • Compatible with the Pro controller.

  • Off-TV Mode will be available with the Gamepad. You can also use the Wii remote and nunchuk and have the monitor be the Gamepad.

  • Launches August 4th

 Nintendo and Best Buy partnership

  • Select Best Buy’s will have unreleased WiiU games for players to try during the week of E3.
